Bear (AKA Killer)

This is what Bear killed Friday night.

It was a bad night. When I started to bed I heard Bear barking so I checked the window and heard the worst sound ever. The raccoon had no chance at survival!!! A raccoon had got in Bear's pen and he was killing it!!!!!!!!!!! I paniced and called Chris (he was at work-football game), he told me to call the police. Well they were busy at a Boaz football game and it took awhile before they could get here. When the officer got here, I had Bear out of his pen and all the nice police officer had to do was get the raccoon out of his pen.
I am so thankful for the police officer. He was nice and very helpful, even though I was a mess when he got here. Chris called Monday and talked with the police chief and put in a good word for the officer.
I called the vet and they said to just watch Bear for the next couple of days since he is up todate on his rabies shots.
So Chris and I have started calling him Killer since this is his second kill this year. He killed a opossum earlier this year.

Just thought I would post a few band pictures.

Chris is probably going to kill me for posting this but..... I thought it was a good picture.

Solitaire

So I am addicted to this game. I play it everyday multiple times. My parents bought it for me a long time ago and it has had more batteries than I can count. I have tried to play the newer version, but I just don't like it. I will be really sad when it no longer works.

I have some cards that I play the game with, but I don't like that either.

So what have we been up to?

Since Chris got the job at Locust Fork, we have been really busy. I am trying to get used to him coming in late. I got so used to him being home when I got home from work and it is taking me some time to get used to his late nights.

Last weekend we went to the football field because the parents had to clean up the concession stand. We stayed there for a little while. I got to meet some more parents and they were really nice.
After we got through at the concession stand we went to Chris' parents house to celebrate Chris' job. We stayed longer than we had planned, but we didn't mind, because spending time with them is so enjoyable.

I think I forgot to post about mom having surgery a couple of weeks ago. She had stints placed in her left leg. The surgery was done at Russell Medical Center in Alexander City. I went down the night before so I could be at the hospital with her. Dad, mawmaw and Aunt Brenda were there. Adam works there now, so he came up to her room when he had a chance. Everything went great and she was able to come home that afternoon.
A couple of weekends ago Chris and I went to the DCI (Drum Corps International) Show in Atlanta, GA. We have been going for the last four years. We really enjoy it and I hope we can continue to go each year. Miranda and Sterling also went. I am glad they went with us, it is so good to spend time with them. They spent the night Saturday, because we got home around 2:00am. Luckly Chris and I made it to church, I wasn't sure we would, but we did. I really could have slept in more. I am not a huge fan of going to bed at that time. I am a 9:00 or 10:00 girl.

I told Chris last year that when we have children and if they are in band, that they ARE going to march drum corps, because I want to travel with them! Just kidding!!!!!!!!! It just seems like a really fun experience.

4th of July & a JOB!

We had a busy weekend on the 4th of July. First we spent Saturday with Chris' parents. Miranda, Sterling, Ashley, Granny and Jonathan were also there. We went swimming and grilled out. Chris and Sterling shot skeet (not sure if I spelled that right) for awhile, then they got in the pool with us. Ashley did great in the water. One point we just let her float on her own for about 10 seconds. Trust me, we were no more than a foot from her.

Sunday Chris and I skipped church :( to go to Ashland for their 4th of July celebration. Mom grilled way too much food. Tyler brought Ava up and we played with my barbie dolls and anything else she brought out of my old bedroom.

Later on that evening Adam, Miranda, Sawyer and Madelyn came. Sawyer is so funny and just like Adam. I thought I took some pictures of him but I think I forgot to. We just had a really fun time playing. We shot fireworks after dark and Sawyer started crying because we ran out of sparklers. Poor man :(  He loved those things.

On a GREAT NOTE! Chris got a job!!!!!!!!! He will be the band director at Locust Fork High School. He has been really busy this week getting everything ready. He picked a show out Saturday and has been working on the music this week. Next week they start band camp. I can't wait to see the show. The whole community is proud to see him and love his ideas. I got to meet the students and their parents on Thursday night. They are really nice people and I can't wait till football season starts!!!! I meant to take some pictures but I forgot the camera. I was just in a rush to get there. Mom and Dad came up Friday night and we met them at Applebee's in Rainbow City and ate. Saturday we went to our friends the Byrd's house. They had a house full of family and friends. While we were there someone told me that I was to little to be married. When I told the lady how old I was, she was shocked. Makes me fill better about turning 30 next month.

Camping/Father's Day

Saturday Chris and I visited with his parents at Desoto State Park. Miranda, Sterling and Ashley were all there also. We all had a good time talking and laughing at Ashley.

I love this picture. I think Ashley slept for almost an hour on her Uncle Chris.
Our trip up there was so fun. We got lost...go figure! I didn't see the big sign that pointed to the right saying Desoto State Park. So Chris and I ended up driving a few miles out of the way. It also didn't help that Chris has a broken toe. He ran into the sofa Friday morning and now has a purple toe to prove it.

So Whats Going On?

It has been a while since I last posted so I thought I would catch everything up todate.

We have had several issues with our wonderful lawn mower...motor blew up, new starter, new gas lines...you name it, we just about had to replace it. So that got the summer off to a GREAT start. Chris has been doing a great job keeping the yard looking nice.

We had Ashley's 2nd birthday party on April 24th. It was a Minnie and Mickey Mouse party. She got so many fun things to play with. We got her a firetruck, bowling ball set and a baby car seat for her dolls. She doesn't quite have the bowling down yet. She just hits the balls with the pins! I think they are working with her on that, lets hope so.

For a while now Chris and I have been talking about helping my dad find out who his real mother is. You see my dad was adoped when he was a little over two years old and he has always wanted to find out more about it. So we have been doing research and some calling. Well this past Saturday we got a copy of records that will help us with the search. I just pray that we can find out everything that he wants to know. It would be great to know that I have another grandmother and uncle somewhere.

Chris and I had to travel to Ashland for a funeral one Tuesday and we told my parents about our baby plans. We had already told Chris' parents our plans and just needed to let mom and dad know. Mom and dad both started crying and were really excited. I told mom not to buy anything yet, that I would let her know when she could start buying. Well that went in one ear out the other. She has already bought shoes and play toys. Got to love her! I know that she is excited and will be so glad when we do tell them that we are expecting.

Chris got to play with the Gadsden Symphony Orchestra. He did a great job! Joyce came down and went with us. I would post pictures, but they would not allow any video or cameras.

We had two graduations to attend in May. Miranda graduated from UAH with her masters and Kara, Erin and Kate graduated from CCHS. Miranda also gave us some great news. They are having another baby. It will be due in January.

Easter Stuff

This Easter we ate at Chris' grannies house and hid eggs for Ashley and Christopher. After that we went back to Chris' parents house and played with Ashley on her new swing set.

Walking to the creek!

This past weekend Chris and I went to Cullman. We celebrated Danny and Miranda's birthday. We had a great time playing with Ashley and spending time with everyone else. It is just amazing how much Ashley already knows. While there Chris, Sterling, Ashley and I walked down to the creek to show Ashley the water.

We spent a lot of our time outside, since the weather was so pretty. This picture is of Ashley and her horse. At first she was scared of it, but after some batteries and uncle chris showing her how to ride it, she got right on it and loved it.
I have pictures of Chris riding it, but I promised him I would not post those anywhere. Ashley tried to get everyone to ride it, but I was not about too. Her mom and uncle chris did an excellent job of showing her how to ride it.
