Nap Time Song

When I am getting Andrew down for a nap, I sing a little song I made up. It is nothing fancy, but I hope it sticks around for awhile.

Here are the lyrics:
   Go to sleep little Andrew,
Go to sleep, sweet dreams to see.
   Go to sleep little Andrew,
   Mommy and daddy love you.

My new cup!

I am so excited about my new coffee mug. I love watching the "live Kelly & Michael" show every morning. Even though Andrew naps during it and I keep the volume down, I still love watching it. Kelly just has so much energy! Plus I love her outfits.😀

Five on Friday!

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

Link up to Five on Friday
1). The allergy appointment went okay. She said he is highly allergic to peanuts, wheat and eggs. Right now he is just to young to really test him because he only comes into contact with wheat. So we are only going to moderately control his wheat intake.

2). Liver doctor is happy with how he is doing!

3). We got a small pool, but have not put it up. Hope to soon. I know he will love it, because he loves bath time.

4). I have applied for a job. I am praying things go well with it.

5). Thank you Lord for our little blessing we call Andrew!

2). I am going to Ashland tomorrow for my cousins wedding shower. This will be my first time away from Andrew for this long.

3). Still looking for a job I can do from home.

4). We see the allergist Monday to get results back. I pray he has nothing major going on.

5). I really need to get outside more. I have never been this white. I also need to look for a more appropriate bathing suit. The ones I have are just not mom material!

Six & Seven Months

I have not been good at keeping things updated. Andrew has learned so many things and I never seem to remember to write them down. So I am going to throw out several things that have been going on the last two months.

Month Six:
We have two bottom teeth. They are so cute!
  Starting to sit up more.
Sleeping in your bedroom floor. There is something about your bed you just don't like.

Month Seven:
  Sitting up on your own
Still sleeping in the floor. You did sleep a few nights in your bed.
Not liking baby food. I have been putting it in your bottle.
You love to growl at your dad. He does it back to you.
  Everything goes in your mouth.
Went to your allergist for blood work. No results yet.
You are gaining weight. Praise The Lord.
  You love bath time.

Small random things.
You are clicking your tounge to the top of your mouth.
You love watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
I just love you more each day!

Pampers has great rewards if you want to check them out. You get the codes on wipes and diapers.

2.) I have started using Viggle.
3.) Andrew is now sitting up. Not totally by himself, but he can stay up for a few minutes.
4.) I am addicted to watching Dr. Phil. My grandmother got me hooked!
5.) I am blessed!

Oh I dislike Eczema

Let me say that I HATE ECZEMA!

Andrew has it and it is going to be the death of me. I feel so bad for him and it seems like I can't do anything to help him. He has it just about all over his little body. Dr. Theos  said it will never be cured but you can manage it. Andrew wakes up itching and just can't rest good at night some times. We do have his under control with body oil, hydrophor cream and itch medicine (Atarax).

For a couple of weeks, before we got it under control, he was so itchy. It really made things harder. So after two trips to Dr. Theos, we are doing soooooo much better! I hate that he has to take itchy medicine, but it helps him so much.

Some days are better than others. For now we think his is triggered by heat. His back will be so bad after he lays on it for a long time. Chris said when he can sit up, it will get better.

Dr. Theos did a skin biopsy and it came back with a lot of allergies. So in a few years we will be going to an allergist.

I am so thankful that we got his under control. Makes both our lives much easier.

5 Months

Since his surgery Andrew has been doing good. He was just released from cardiology care!

Still trying to figure out his liver issue and get his weight up. He should be around 12-14 pounds and he is almost 11 pounds right now.

I want to start doing updates and small things I want to remember. So here goes.
He has found his toes! Oh my! Trying to put a diaper on can be tricky
We are having a hard time getting him to sleep in his bed at night.
Loves his fingers
Takes three naps a day.

Andrew Thomas Ashley

I am still here!

Andrew was born September 30, 2013 at 10:28 pm. He was 21 1/2 inches and weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces.

He has had a rough couple of months, but we pray that things are looking up.

While we were in the hospital he was diagnosed with Jaundice. Most babies are placed under the light or sun and it goes away. Andrew's is the opposite. Sun nor the light will help.  We were sent to Children's of Alabama in Birmingham to a GI doctor. They have done blood work, two liver biopsies and everything to see what might be causing his to be high. As of now all test have come back negative. They have tested for Biliary Atresia, Neeman Pick C, Histiocytosis, and Alagille Syndrome. One doctor at Children's of Texas thinks it is Alagille, but our doctor is not sold on it. At one time she was, but she has since changed her mind. Every time we go back to see her, we do blood work for a different diagnosis. Andrew has been stuck so many times it is just heart breaking. She did say that 40 percent of liver diseases are not diagnosed. Right now we are seeing if Andrew could have a fructose intolerance. It is associated with liver disease. She changed his formula to Pregestimil, but he is not liking it to well.

At our two month check up (Monday before Thanksgiving), our pediatrician heard a heart murmur. We were told by one GI doctor that he had one, but it would go away. Like most do. Well, our pediatrician set us up with a cardiologist at UAB for the next day. During the heart exam a murmur was noted and we were told it needed to be repaired sooner rather than later. It was located in the extra vein that we are all born with. Most close up on their own. Andrew's just didn't close up due to the size of it. So that doctor talked with our GI doctor and decided to admit us then for nutritional reasons. Along with surgery to repair the vein. It is also called PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus). Chris had the same surgery at the same place and age. So we knew what to expect. So Chris, Andrew and I  spent the week of Thanksgiving at Children's of Alabama. We even watched the Iron Bowl from there. Our parents came several times and stayed with Andrew and I while Chris would come home and do a few things.

On Monday Andrew had his surgery and did great. He was moved to the CVICU for the night to make sure he did good. The nurses there are AMAZING! The night nurse did everything for Andrew (feeding, bath, diapers), so Chris and I could rest. When he came out of surgery he was still on the vent, but by the next morning he was off and was able to leave the unit! So Tuesday we moved back to our old floor. Mom came up and stayed while Chris went home for a couple of hours. As soon as Chris got back around 3:00 p.m., they told us we were going home! So after spending a week there we were glad to be going home.

More about how Andrew is doing in the next post.
